Beginning of the Season

The beginning of the season in the NHL, has been much different than expected especially in fantasy hockey. I'm going to try to work on this  blog here and there weekly throughout the season, I will have sits and starts of the week hopefully starting next week! Please comment and let me know what I can do differently to improve this site.  I'm also going to do some research some html writing and jazz the site up as I go so to start the site may appear a bit dull!!

Forwards
Derek Roy from the Buffalo Sabres, has been a driving force early on and is in fact is tied for most goals in the league with 5 and he also has one helper in six games. This guy is good but  I don't think that he is going to be able to put up these stats especially with Jason Pominville and the rest of the team struggling out of the gate this year. (Another Sabre to watch is Drew Stafford, its a contract year and he's reportidly shown up this year in the best shape of his career thus far..... must be looking to hit pay dirt if he turns in a big year)

The player who is suprising the league early and I believe will continue to do so despite what many other critics are say is Clarke MacArthur.
Clarke MacArthur This guy played in Buffalo, and was over shadowed by some of the bigger names like Pominville, Vanek as well as the upcoming guys like Gerbe and Ennis. The club undervalued him and I believe we are seeing this guy prosper in a system that gives him quality opportounity to succeed with a  good surrounding cast and plenty of ice time. (stats as of 10/17/10 - games 4 g 5 a1 pts 6)

Top Defensman I project for the year  is Alex Goligoski from the Pens. He is definitely  up and coming and is beginning to show his potential early on this season in 6 games he has g3, 3a  6pts and is a +4

Defensmen
(who I would strongly watch and probably add to your roster if they are available)

John Carlson- This kid is  showing he is as good as advertised on the next level  with in 5 games 1g 5a 6pts

Matt Taormina- Another Rookie who is going to be on everyones radar in the next couple weeks. He is leading the Devils power play as there quarterback.  The Devils coaches are showing their confidence in him giving him ample opportounity to produce and with the surrounding cast I believe you will see his points begin to jump off the page. Don't want to watch him too long because the hype is building on this youngster.

Goalies
Jimmy Howard
Proved last year that he is the go to guy in Detroit and will be for some time to come seeing Osgood isn't getting any younger.  He will  play 60 games at least as long as he can stay healthy.  If you haven't drafted already he should be in the top five goalies of your draft. If you have a goalie that is splitting time or isn't playing you thought he was going to intially you may want to look to pick up Howard or trade for hime because he will not disappoint!( This is also due to team's going with different goalies on a nightly basis so far this year.)

Ryan Miller
I would look for that guy who has him and is willing to trade him for something less than spectacular seeing the Sabres, have looked shaky early this year. I would keep him on the bench  the next week or two (unless the team starts playing better in front of him)
